India sub-junior No. 2 Kunal Agarwal stunnned second seed Subrat Das by 14 points to storm into senior billiards final of the 16th State Billiards and Snooker Championship, which commenced at the Bhubaneswar Club here today. In the closely-contested first semifinal, local teenager Kunal edged out experienced city opponent Subrat 554-540.
Rourkela’s Devbrat Rout booked berth in the junior billiards final with a convincing 352-247 win over Rashmi Kisan Marandi of Cuttack. He will next meet the winner of the second semifinal to be played between top seed Kunal Agarwal and Ankit Bhawsinka.
The six-day championship is being conducted by Billiards and Snooker Association of Orissa (BSAO). Competition in billiards will be followed by junior and senior snooker events from November 9. The winner and runner-up in each category will be eligible to represent Orissa in the National Billiards and Snooker Championships to be held at Hyderabad from December 7 to 27.
